Fresh from the well-earned win of Thursday's game, and the arse-whopping defeat of Friday's, the Erratics stepped once more into the breach to engage the familiar faces of the Anchor Inn XI.

Our band of ever-merry men started in the field, and were immediately spurred on by some fantastic Lisk-based bowling, supported well by the likes of Pearson junior and Matt Cook, the latter who slightly tainted their personal fielding performance by, along with David Salter, dropping at least three easy slip catches off the Basilisk's bowling, as well as a few other "less reachable" ones. (Bending over in the slips, David was "always ready to drop one", as one way pointed out. Ed)

Still, I for one was not disheartened but excited through this dropping spell, as it seemed plain to me that against bowling of this calibre, the opposing batsmen simply couldn't and wouldn't hold out. I was right. Too right in fact, as when the supply of batsmen slowly depleted, captain Orpen called upon my own appalling bowling arm, resulting in some amusing/embarrassing overs, depending on who you ask, the climax of which being my arm jamming well behind my head and catapulting the ball nearly for 6. I got a wicket though : )

So through a combination of both superb (see I. Lisk's stats) and questionable bowling, and some excellent fielding work from the likes of Molins and Orpen (despite constant use of feet) alongside Matt's ever-steady wicketing gloves, the Erratics felled the Anchors for 220. Time to Bat.

Amazingly, the Erratics as a team carried on the excellent work from the field into the batting. With rock-steady opening from Hitchcock and Davies, a generally high standard of batting continued throughout, including a 36 run contribution from Ian skies-the-limit Lisk. Mr Turner gained runs also, to the relief of his Emma, who said as he walked onto the pitch "I hope he doesn't get a duck, he's always so moody afterwards"...I mean really!

By this point, I think it would be fair to say we were all a bit bored of Sam's phenomenal batting on the tour, especially after his highest ever score with a bat was against his own team and indeed family, just the day before. Still, at the same time his 74 cannot go without recognition. For me however, the batting performance of the day was from Mr David Pearson, who scored 38 in about 7 shots, and suitably delivered the winning runs.

So, all in all a great game against a great team, most of whom are to meet and beat us the very next day. Presentation of silly hats, and a great night in the pub. Champion.
