Branscombe v Erratics Cricket Club Erratics on Wed 23 Jul 2025 at 6.00pm
Erratics Cricket Club Won

Match report Fraser started off with letting your match reporter know he’s the first erratic to score a 50 in every batting position from 1-9, which I feel was more to soften the blow of me batting 10! He also then informed Mark H he was only 2 innings batting at 5 away from being just the 3rd erratic to achieve the feat of batting in every position at least 10 times!

The Erratics arrived in clumps ahead of our game at Branscombe, as the road works around Exeter left plenty taking alternative routes out! And at 5:55, our skipper has the toss and wins to put us into bat first with the short boundaries on either side!

Last year was high scoring affair, and after a quiet start, with Alex, in his own words, taking 100 balls (was 33) to score his 20 and Olly ‘here for my fielding’ Kirby opening, Anuj joined and scored 6 of the most classy boundaries to retire on 25 with a single. Phil and then Mark H (@5) came and went before Chacko, on a white ball loan from Stoke, smashed a quick 17 off 12 before middling one straight to the short boundary for a catch. With that, brought Rich to the crease, who maybe offended me and Anuj forgot was chasing our 6s total, smashed one out of Branscombe and towards the sea! He retired aswell, and once a run out Matt C (cannot comment on it as was putting pads on) brought myself and Dhruba to the crease. Dhruba went down the ground, dropped for 6, so decided to repeat the fear but unfortunately chose mid on this time, and not mid off and was caught. Once me and Fraser both got to 25 retire, the erratics posted 179, the 5th highest T20 score.

And overall, that proved fairly too many for Branscombe to chase. Every bowler having to bowl 2 overs gave them some confidence, but with only 2 of their Batters retiring compared to our 4 meant not enough for them to keep going at us. Wickets fairly shared around, Chacko making his loan deal worthwhile with 2, as did Mark H and Phil.

Erratics headed home, with the sun still shining and a long drive back up that hill!
