Match report Furniture Removal by Lishoy George

The Erratics travelled to Spitchwick on a balmy mid-summer evening. The sloping ground is a situated in a tranquil spot, and the away side batted first on a pitch that could be described as “tasty”.

Duncan made 28 opening the batting (including a maximum) and Richard struck three fours on his way to 13. Jonathan retired on 28, Fraser made 19 and Brad and Lee both hit sixes before finishing not out. Causey making 23* and Grant 17*. The unicorns posted 141-2. Defendable.

In the second innings Lee Grant took 3-17 and Paul Carr picked up one of the openers. Can you ever keep Jonathan Kirby out of the match? He took three catches and Bradley Causey took a diving one on the off-side. Bill took 2-40 and Mark 1-15 before metaphorical fireworks from Lishoy George.

Bowling up the hill, Lishoy took a hat-trick which went something like:

Ball one : Bowled (Leg-stump out the ground)
Ball two: Bowled (Off-stump out of the ground)
Ball three: Bowled (Middle-stump out of the ground)

Mark Whiteside hit some big sixes for the home side, but it was not enough to prevent the Erratics from claiming victory.
There was word after the game that the England-Mexico match may be bought forward to to a more palatable time on Sunday evening for some, but it could be said like Spitchwick’s chances of victory, this hope faded like the light on a calm Devon evening.
