Exwick v Erratics Cricket Club Erratics on Fri 21 Aug 2026 at 6.00pm
Erratics Cricket Club Won by 6 wickets

Match report Richard Lindsay reports.

The second evening T20 of the week, was also the final one of the 2026 season, as Erratics made the short trip (for many of us, at least) to Exwick. After initially struggling for numbers, Erratics ended up with 12, possibly partly because Lee had managed to persuade the Exwick captain, Sean Bridgwater, to waive their usual “jokers’ rules” where everyone bowls, and batting and bowling orders are random.

While Erratics had too many players, Exwick had experienced a sudden exodus of available players, leading them to recruit a couple of familiar faces from Broadclyst Pinns, who Erratics had faced earlier in the week. Namely, Philip Walker Jr and Rudi Ellis.

Despite the lack of the usual Jokers format, this Exwick fixture took on a familiarly chaotic feel with some quick scoring, aided by the parched outfield, and some quick loss of wickets, aided by the wicket which lacked some preparation (according to Sean, the designated groundskeeper hadn’t bothered that day!). Erratics welcomed another debutant this season, Rami Yedidi, who like many of us do, was making a return to playing cricket after a number of years away from the game. Though it didn’t show as he conceded just 3 runs from 3 overs, and ultimately hit the winning runs with a big hit for 4 through mid-wicket.

Lee G also managed to finish with typically ridiculous bowling figures, taking three wickets in his single over – including that of his Guild Hall co-worker, Sean, ensuring the bragging rights for this season.

Exwick reached 96-9 from their 20 overs, which Erratics managed to get with relative ease despite ending the run chase in the dark. Most of this was achieved by a solid partnership between Krups and Kyle, who both reached their retirement scores without drama, which was particularly impressive given the condition of Kyle’s wounded finger after attempting to take a catch earlier in the field.

Cheesy chips and pints at The Thatched House helped to fight off both the late summer evening’s chill, and the blues of no more mid-week games this season. While we might have to find other ways to fill our evenings, I’ve heard rumours that Erratics have been invited to some sort of 6-a-side tournament that Exwick are looking to organise next year? Watch this space….
