Teign Valley v Erratics Cricket Club Erratics on Mon 25 Aug 2008 at Unknown
Erratics Cricket Club Lost by 31 runs

Match report The all day game against Teign Valley is something of a bank holiday tradition. The format is that we have a 20-20 match in the morning then a lunch break and then the scores are carried over into a traditional timed match in the afternoon. A bit of a marathon for many but always enjoyable!

The Teign valley ground looked beautiful and even the weather was kind enough to us but the pitch had understandably suffered due to the ongoing monsoon season and was sloooow!

The star of the Erratics 20 over bash was undoubtedly Tim Mileham who was on fine form as he smashed the ball to all areas for 42. He soon realised that caressing the ball through the covers was not an option on this surface and the aerial route was the way forward. He was ably supported by several low scoring but limpet like performances and 91 for 5 after 20 overs seemed respectable.

Unfortunately Teign Valley knew just how to play this one and despite good steady bowling they eased to 99 after their 20 giving them the advantage going into the timed match.

The Erratics batted first in the afternoon and to be honest we really struggled. Our 83 all out was lower than our twenty over score and meant that Teign Valley had only 75 to chase to win. If it hadn't been for Jonathan Kirby's 29 our score would have been even more embarrassing!

Predictably Teign Valley chased down the runs with little drama losing only two wickets in the process. We bowled well enough but just didn't have enough runs to defend. Back to The Manor for a refreshing bank holiday drink then...
