Match report Our reporter Sam Cook has the story...

"The towering trees were illuminated in the glorious evening sunshine, and a prolonged netting session kept both teams keen before starting the game 30 minutes late. With two men down the Nomads went out to field.

The opening batsmen tasted the wicked wicket with balls leaping and lingering on the Devonshire turf. What looked like a strong top order crumpled and it was up to the middle bunch to keep the game alive. The two Cooks swung gently at the ball reaching the rope with ease and although Matthew's target of "six sixes in the over " was slightly unrealistic he collected 63 well deserved runs on the pitch.

Scoring 50 runs Cook senior lunged for the boundary at every opportunity , until swiping gracefully towards cow corner, only to find the ball cracking those gleaming stumps. Simon Orpen and Frank brought up the rear with style and a solid partnership securing our final total of 158.

The sun became a difficult opponent as it crept slowly lower and shadows loomed over the boundary rope. A debut for Phil Ellis gave him an opportunity to impress as he stepped up to the crease to open the bowling. After only two overs the wickets started to fall. The fielding skills were impressive, a run out by Pearson junior kept the batsmen alert and various catches brought some hope to the usual 'Erratic' fielding performances. Our spin attack proved very effective with Pearson taking on a more attacking action and wildly ripping the ball from the back of his hand. The wickets fell and so did the evening sun leaving a perfectly clear mandarin sky. And of course yet another win for the Erratics."
