Woodbury Sunsets v Erratics Cricket Club Erratics on Fri 13 May 2005 at 6pm
Match was Tied

Match report
The weather, which threatens to dominate our current reports, was still perishing cold, although the wind had dropped since earlier in the day. According to the forecast, this game should have been played in heavy rain, but if it was, we didn’t notice it. Captain Molins negotiated an increase in the batsman’s innings limit from 25 to 30, and then proceeded to take full advantage of this, as did Ken Horne. With a solid foundation to the innings, the middle order were able to build the rest of the innings, although 111 was always going to be a little light.

Sunsets were able to keep up with the asking rate through most of their innings, but lost wickets at intervals. Three good catches by Abhay Krishna and steady bowling by Tony Wragg, John and David Pearson, and Simon Orpen helped build things up to a tight finish, and Erratics were able to deny Sunsets the extra run they need to win off the last ball.
"You can't drop me now!"
Erratics were helped somewhat by the reluctance of a home umpire to signal wides; theories as to the cause for this range from his being frozen stiff, to being unable to see the ball in the dark at the end of the innings.

Summary: Erratics 111 for x. Woodbury Sunsets 111 for 6 - which was exactly the same score the Erratics managed against Stoke-in-Teignhead last week.

Ties up:
A tie is a fairly rare result, and repeated ties against the same team even rarer; Richard has reminded us that this is the second time in six years that we have tied with Sunsets, and has come up with details of the earlier game, on June 30th, 2000, with Erratics scoring 125-8, (Wragg 32 n.o., Clarke 31 n.o.) and Sunsets 125-9.
