Stokeinteignhead v Erratics Cricket Club Erratics on Sat 25 Jun 2005 at 2pm
Erratics Cricket Club Won by eight wickets

Match report

At last a second win of the season – and a resounding one at that!

The day was dark, heavy and drizzly; the pitch, soaked by the previous day’s thunderstorms, was slow and low. Berry lost the toss and we fielded. They progressed steadily, anchored by Jim Maher’s patient 71, and declared seven down for 141 at the tea interval. Berry and Wragg picked up two wickets each and Pearson (J), Burrows and Hinds one apiece. This was Peter Hinds' maiden Erratics wicket. Our fielding, as often, lived up to the club name. A brilliant stop by Joe Kember and two excellent catches by Sid Thomson in the early overs gave way to a spate of five or six dropped catches, some of them rather simple chances!

Kember and McRae opened our account steadily until the former was unluckily bowled at 39. Sid Thomson went in at three and with McRae going well we were well on top. McRae perished immediately after posting his fifty, but good work by Thomson (34 not out) and some hefty blows from Hinds (28 not out) saw us home with five and a half overs to spare. The rain was heavy during the last three or four overs and it was good of the Stoke lads to stay out in the field while we closed on a well deserved victory.

Penny Price insisted that the skylarks deserve a mention for their excellent singing while we were out in the field.
