Erratics v Blagdon Hill

The result of this game was never in doubt once you looked at the mixed nature of both teams.
Blagdon Hill had a mix of youthful talent (or talented youth), some wise old heads and a number of fit looking powerful allrounders. Our mix, on the other hand, was a mix of those who had played far too many games in a short space of time and those who had played no games at all for many months and in some cases years.
We are grateful for the efforts of Andy Howard, recruited locally via Twitter, Louis Trotman, loaned to us by Blagdon Hill, Tristan Neal, who last played in 2012 and Windy who, having been asked to play (but not really expected to turn up) the day before, cycled from Sidbury.
As to the game - thanks goes to Martin and Rithvik for saving us from humiliation (and bringing us closer to mere embarrassment) with a 77 run 9th wicket partnership.
The real result of the day is that we have found a new friendly opposition, who play in pleasant surroundings close to an equally pleasant pub, who, despite the one sided nature of this game (or maybe because of it?), are very keen to keep the fixture and play us again next year.
The serious side of this is that they are finding it increasingly hard to get friendly fixtures due to the recent demise of too many local village sides.
