Erratics Cricket Club Lost by 29 runs

Match report The final day of the tour saw much tent packing and general weariness after three nights late to bed under canvas. Our match against the Longhorns is always a competitive one and the Longhorns batted first on the same pitch used the day before.

Batting seemed more difficult than in the Anchor match with the Longhorns managing just 8 runs from their first four batsmen thanks to fine bowling from James Burrows and Chris Ferro. Things went to pot a bit thereafter with their number 5 and 6 scoring 41 and 96 respectively. Without this partnership the Longhorns score would have been pretty insignificant. As it was 185 should have been very achievable for a strong Erratics batting lineup!

Our innings got off to a wobbly start with Paul Molins and David Pearson soon back in the railway carriage. Matt Cook and Chris Ferro shone for a while as did Sam on his way to another fine 50. Unfortunately it was all not quite enough with our total falling some 26 runs short of the target.

Thanks were said to the Anchor and our friends from the Longhorns and off we went back down the M5, vowing to return next year and find ever more elaborate ways to avoid camping!
