Erratics Cricket Club News story

An Historic June...

29 Jun 2022

It has been quite a month for cricket lovers, but it is not only the England Test sides that have been flourishing. The Erratics can also boast some historic milestones this month...

1) 'One of our own', Sophie Florides, is - we think - the first Erratic to ever play, and indeed captain a side, on the main square at Lord's, having recently led Oxford UCC Women to victory over Cambridge in a T20 at the home of cricket. President Weiler was there, and tells more here.

2) On Sunday we hosted our first proper home game since 2013 at our new HQ in Lower Ashton at the former Teign Valley CC ground. Erratics with memories of the ground will be stunned to hear that over 500 runs were scored in just 69 overs, as the Erratics produced their 4th highest run chase of all time! Matt Crawford tells all in his report.

Those are the main headlines, but June also produced plenty of other highlights - the lifting of the Curse of Spreyton; a win at our new neighbours Bridford; a mid-match abandonment at a rainy Feniton; a dramatic tie at Chulmleigh on a heavily rain affected North Devon Tour; and another last over thriller against hipster tourists Strongroom at Harberton. There were other great moments too of course, but as yet they remain unreported...

Thanks again to Matt Crawford for a sterling maiden selecting stint, and do get those availabilities in for Penny so you can be part of July's history-making...

Cheers
